Lockwood R-1 School District Hires New Superintendent

The Lockwood R-1 School Board hired its next superintendent Tuesday Night. Clay Lasater, current Lockwood High School Principal, was selected for the position. A Lockwood native, Mr. Lasater, has 13 years of experience in education. Mr. Lasater graduated from Lockwood High School in the year 2000. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2004 from Missouri Valley College, he went on to teach middle school science at Lockwood Jr High. In 2006, he received his Master’s in Administration from William Woods University. Before becoming high school principal, Mr. Lasater taught high school Physical Education for 8 years. He has served as the high school principal for the last 4 years and athletic director for the last 12 years. Throughout his years at Lockwood, he has had multiple coaching roles which include: basketball, baseball, and football which he has served as the head coach for the last 13 years. In 2016 he received his specialist degree from Missouri State University.

Mr. Lasater will replace Mr. Bill Rogers who will be retiring this year after 15 years with the district and a total of 34 years in education.
