Lockwood Alumni Letter

February 2010

March 29, 2010

The Lockwood R-1 School District is one of 25 school districts in Southwest Missouri chosen to participate in the Harry Cooper Company Challenge Phase II.  Each participating district will have the opportunity to raise $20,000 for academic-oriented endowments and receive a$10,000 match.

Participating organizations will have from January1, 2010 to December 31, 2010, to raise the $20,000 that will be matched with $10,000.  Contributions must go into a specific, permanent endowment fund with the Lockwood Community Foundation.  Lockwood Schools will receive annual grants from this fund based on interest earned.

Our nation's economic crisis presents challenges for most of us as we work to keep our own budgets balanced.  It naturally follows that schools are struggling to make ends meet, as well.  The money Lockwood R-1 Schools receive from generous donors; coupled with matching funds of $10,000 would be a welcome addition to what we now spend on academic pursuits, as we strive to provide our students the best education available today.

Please consider donating to the Harry Cooper Challenge Campaign Phase II and help the Lockwood R-1 School District in its continued pursuit of excellence.  If you would choose to make a donation to the fund, you can make your check out to the Lockwood Academic Fund and mail back to:

Sincerely,

Bill Rogers, Superintendent
