Alumni Banquet

August 07, 2009

The Lockwood High School Alumni Banquet was held at the Lockwood Elementary School Gymnasium at 6:00 on Saturday, July 11, 2009. There were 152 alumni and guest present. Registration was conducted by Janice Harrington and Ruth Neill. Amy Eggerman welcomed everyone followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem. She then gave the invocation before a meal was served by Nieman Gardens. Group photos were also taken at this time. After the delicious meal, classes were recognized with the largest class present being the class of 1959 who was celebrating their 50th year reunion. Next, Amy Eggerman gave a PowerPoint presentation of the history of Lockwood Schools including many news articles and photos. Thanks to Sue Sparkman for compiling these articles. She is working on a Lockwood history book that includes all these articles and many, many more. There were six former and present teachers who were present at the banquet so they were introduced and they told when they were at Lockwood and what subjects or grades they taught. Also the youngest alumni, Ben Taylor, LHS class of 2009, as well as the oldest, Irene Finley, LHS class of 1936, were recognized and given prizes. After other door prizes were awarded the rest of the evening was spent reminiscing with old friends and everyone is looking forward to the 2010 banquet which is set for July 10, 2010.
