Lockwood MAP Scores Up!

By: Bill Rogers, Superintendent

We are happy to report to our community that Lockwood R-1 MAP scores are up! The gain significantly improved our percentage points for academic achievement from 63% of the academic points in 2015 to 91.4% of the academic points in 2016 for the district. Our total Annual Performance Rating for 2016 was 95% overall compared to 80% last year. These are very good numbers for improvement. In the SRVC Lockwood ranked first in the following areas in percent of students in proficient and advanced: Third grade Com Arts and 5th grade Com Arts, we also ranked in the top 5 in 10 different tested grade levels or subject areas, ranking us 4th in the conference overall and showing positive improvement in 13 tested grade levels or subject areas in the district.

We are grateful to our administrators and teachers who worked so hard to make this happen. Without their dedication and leadership, this improvement could not have happened. Sometimes taking responsibility and accountability is hard. Our folks did that, and we are proud to say that their hard work paid off. They should be recognized for that and work hard to be consistent in that effort to continually provide the education our students need and deserve. We will continue to work hard in the future for our kids.
